PW Resistance Welding Products grew out of Portable Welders Ltd., founded in 1957 and has specialised in spot welding equipment of all types since then, developing an enviable international reputation.
From 1988 to 2006 PW was instrumental in the introduction of integral transformer guns (IT guns) into the global automotive industry, and designed and installed many thousands of these as far afield as Mexico and South Africa. At home PW was exclusive supplier to Land Rover for many years. The company still supplies Bentley Motors in Crewe.
In 2006, the production of IT guns for the automotive industry was moved to China, and since then the focus has moved towards specialist precision equipment, as well as the design and manufacture of special spot welding machines. As an example, in recent years, PWRWP designed and made four large 6-axis CNC machines which now weld the majority of stainless steel hot water tanks for Gledhill, the UKs largest domestic manufacturer.
While we now concentrate on precision spot welding applications, wwe still supply a full range of resistance welding equipment in the UK and also have two JVs in China manufacturing welding transformers and IT guns, with the focus now on servo robot guns for many automotive companies in China.
The company is run by Ian Brent-Smith and Tim Renahan, who between them have over 60 years of spot welding experience.
