Automated Spot Welding Cells

The PW range of automated spot welding cells offers cost effective answers to a wide variety of spot welding applications. In areas where the sophistication of a 6 axis robot may not be required, these systems offer a fully Integrated Solution to many users, incorporating PW’s long experience in the resistance welding field.
Automated Spot Welding Cells for the resistance welding
Cost effective answers to a wide variety of resistance welding applications where reliability is built into the design
Designed around a rigid base unit, to which all major resistance welding component parts (2 station turntable; X, Y, Z, W axis drive system for weld gun; weld and motion controls; electrode tip dresser;) are fitted, the PW systems allow rapid production start up.

The cell is simply located on the factory floor; guarding (inclusive part of the cell) is fitted, supplies are connected, and production can commence immediately. The standard 4 axis system gives 3 axis linear movement with the addition of 290° rotation on the welding head. The 6 axis system adds two rotational axes on the turntable. These can be either in the horizontal or vertical planes depending on the component requirements. Linear axis speeds are 400mm/sec, giving the rapid spot to spot times required for high production applications. Turntable rotation time of 3 seconds minimises ‘dead’ time.
Reliability is built into the design. All linear axes use recirculating ballscrews, protected by dust and spray proof bellows. The turntable is an electro-mechanical Cam type system, ensuring accurate positioning and maximum longevity.
